Flying Like Eagles

on BBC Radio 4 FM

An introduction to women's experience of religion.
In 1947 Dorothy L. Sayers wrote: ' Nobody could possibly guess from the words and deeds of Jesus that there was anything " funny " about women's nature. But we might easily deduce it from his contemporaries, and from his prophets before him, and from his church to this day.
Women are not human.' What was Jesus' attitude to women? What does the Bible say about the awkward ' women's question What insights do women hare on the Institutionalised churches? Many feminists have given up on the church altogether. Others choose to stay tied to it, only to be labelled ' dangerous ' and ' misguided ' by fellow Christians.
Rosemary Hartill. Religious Affairs Correspondent, seeks to untangle some of the knots.
