International Air Fair, Biggin Hill

on BBC One London

This year is the 40th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain, and Biggin Hill Airfield - in the front-line 40 years ago as a fighter station - again stages the International Air Fair with displays from aircraft old and new from many countries. The world-famous Red Arrows have recently re-equipped with their new aircraft, the Hawk. Today they make their first television appearance at a major air display in the new aircraft, demonstrating their incomparable precision flying. Together with them, there will be acrobatic skill of the highest order from other service and civil pilots, parachuting from the RAF Falcons and aeroplanes to stir many memories. Raymond Baxter introduces highlights from this exciting occasion.
