Private eye Miles Banyon is put on the spot when a cocktail waitress is found murdered with his gun in his office. Banyon suspects the frame is the work of Victor Pappas whom he once sent to jail, but nothing can be certain in the corrupt atmosphere of Los Angeles in the 30s.
