The Owens arrived to stay with Bob and Jenny for the weekend. They went down to Gimlet Green to see Gwen, and ask her to come and live with them, but she refused. Fickling tried, unsuccessfully, to bribe his wife to leave Gimlet Green. Janet told Caradoc that she had got a job in Hong Kong, but asked him not to tell anyone yet.
