† by N. S. SUTHERLAND
University Lecturer in Experimental Psychology and Fellow of Merton College, Oxford Dr. Sutherland sets out to answer the question why it is that we can trust our memories. In order to do so he analyses under what conditions statements involving the word ' remember ' are true, and attempts to show that it is the complexity of these conditions which tempts us to doubt memory statements.
