When Henry VIII declares himself head of the English church and rejects Papal authority, he meets with little opposition from his corrupt courtiers and churchmen. Henry seeks the approval and support of one man alone: Sir Thomas More , his Chancellor. More's refusal to endorse the king's action brings him into tragic conflict with the monarch.
