Experiences of an infantryman
Bill Harney
Compiled and introduced by John Thompson
Bill Harney is a well-known writer and radio personality; a born broadcaster whose high-speed delivery and gift for easy description have gained him a large listening audience in his native Australia. He has driven cattle in Queensland, sailed the China seas, and lived among the aborigines on a lonely reef in the Northern Territory.
In this programme he recounts his experiences as an infantryman who saw action twenty-two times on the Western Front during the first World War when, by his own account, he seems to have been the Good Soldier Schweik of the Australian Forces.
