Clare Teal - after Seven

on BBC Radio 2

4/6. Jazz vocalist Clare Teal presents a series devoted to the various creative forces behind the making of a record. She continues her survey with a look at Capitol Records, which in 1942 became the first American West Coast record label, boasting a roster that included Bing Crosby , Judy Garland , Les Paul, Fats Domino, Peggy Lee , Les Brown, Frank Sinatra , and Nat "King" Cole. Acquired by EMI in 1955, the label continued to prosper, issuing the Beatles and the Beach Boys hits in the US throughout the 60s and beyond.
