LESLIE JEFFRIES and the GRAND HOTEL. EASTBOURNE, ORCHESTRA

on National Programme Daventry

View in Radio Times

Vivien Lambelet (mezzo-soprano) from the Grand Hotel, Eastbourne (Soloist, LESLIE JEFFRIES> )
Restaurant and hotel music has a great tradition behind it. Some of the foremost violinists of today have in their earlier days led restaurant and hotel bands. To be really successful a leader must be, first, a fine player of his instrument, and, secondly, a musician with catholic tastes who is able to interpret sympathetically anything from a popular song to the movement of a classical symphony. One of the most popular hotel leaders of today is Leslie Jeffries , who possesses both these qualities to a very high degree. He is also backed with a first-rate group of musicians, all of whom have been carefully chosen for their efficiency and experience.
