This is the last programme in the series of plays originally performed in the early part of the 17th century, from 1600 to the closing of the theatres by the Puritans.
Following this, and to mark the tercentenary of the Restoration of Charles II, three Restoration comedies are to be broadcast in May and June (The Man of Mode by Etherege, The Country Wife by Wycherlcy, and The Way of the World by Congreve). Three tragedies will follow in July and August (All for Love by Dryden , Lucius Junius Brutus by Nathaniel Lee , and Venice Preserv'd by Otway).
