Tina Turner Special: The Girl from Nutbush

on BBC One London

The star considered by Elton John to be "the first real woman rock 'n' roll singer" looks back over 30 years - at the traumas of her early days, her secret dreams and how she finally made it. There are rarely seen clips from the 60s and 70s including a glimpse of her collaboration with Phil Spector on River Deep, Mountain High, and a unique interview with her former husband and mentor, Ike, from his prison cell.

Intercut with her personal recollections is film of Mick Jagger, David Bowie, Cher, Bryan Adams, Mark Knopfler and Keith Richards, who explain why she is "simply the best".
