Gwen, David, and Mr. Fulton went to Cheltenham to the Festival of Contemporary Literature, and Mrs. Dale looked after Billy and helped to prepare for the Harvest Festival. Sally was dispirited at the prospect of competition, but Mrs. Freeman encouraged her and did some effective window-dressing at the shop.
