with Nick Ross and Sue Cook
The first in a new monthly series which asks you, the viewer, to turn detective, crime-solver and crime-preventer.
In the files of the 55 police forces in the United Kingdom, many serious crimes remain unsolved. For the first time these forces are co-operating in a regular nationwide programme to seek your help in solving them. Detailed and meticulous reconstructions will be used to jog memories and gather new evidence. Have you seen this face? Do you remember this car?
Sue Cook and Nick Ross will be in the Crimewatch studio waiting for your call. Investigating officers will be with them to explain exactly what they're looking for and why. Local police headquarters throughout the country will be standing by to act on information received.
Among the crimes reconstructed is the rape and murder of 16-year-old Colette Aram in Nottinghamshire eight months ago. A mysterious letter describing the crime was sent to police and help is needed to identify its writer. Yours could be an apparently trivial memory - yet it could be the clue that solves the crime.
If you can help, call the Crimewatch number, [number removed], any time from 9.30 till the end of the evening. The investigating teams are back on air for updates and reminders at 11.40 pm
