Called to a Santa Fe prison to help save the life of a boy who has slashed his wrists, Dr Teague Summer is himself stabbed - by a silent and strangely beautiful young Indian girl. Teague becomes increasingly involved with the girl and aided by the sympathetic Nurse Rhinehart he sets about restoring Hatter to a normal life.
