A Sixth Sense in Plants

If you are a plant it is extremely helpful to know before it comes that winter is on its way. Plants hrve an extra sense, different from any of our reputed live, that gives them this sort of information. It is based on phytochrome, a bluish-green pigment extraordinarily sensitive to small quantities of light.
