Abortion is illegal in Ireland. As a result, at least 100 Irish women travel to England each week to terminate their pregnancies. Condemned by Church, state and sometimes their families, the women face immense practical and emotional difficulties.
Tonight's programme charts the experiences of four women who had to overcome an information ban, a hostile medical establishment, economic hardship, and the trauma of doing something they had been taught from childhood was a sin.
