Africa Lives on the BBC: New Kenya and the Masai
Poet Benjamin Zephaniah visits Masailand in East Africa to explore the modern-day status of the Masai tribe. As Kenya works to create a new sense of national unity, the brightly clothed Masai remain a defining image of a reborn democracy. However, their nomadic lifestyle is becoming less and less viable in a 21st-century economy. Zephaniah asks the Masai if their way of life is destined to disappear. Producer Laurence Grissell
