Appeal on behalf of the British Empire Leprosy Relief Association, by a cured leper
Contributions will be gratefully acknowledged and should be addressed to [address removed]
For tweniy-five years the British Empire Leprosy Relief Association has been foremost in spreading knowledge about leprosy, its treatment and cure, throughout the British Empire, and in providing for the physical and mental welfare of sufferers. Jointly with Toc H it has sent over thirty helpers into the field, apart from medical stan. It has conducted research and surveys; provided drugs and medical supplies; and ' adopted ' nearly 1,500 leper children who would otherwise have remained outcast.
The latest treatment promises both more rapid and widespread cures, but the cost is high. Funds are urgently needed to maintain and extend the work among the three million lepers of the Empire, only one-tenth of whom are at present able to get treatment.
