Sinbad the Sailor

on BBC Radio 4 FM

Later this month a ship will sail out of Muscat Harbour in Oman and out of the 20th century back to the days of the Sinbad legends.
The Sohar, captained by Tim Severin , is a faithful reproduction of a medieval Arab dhow and to rediscover the sailing and navigational skills of the early Arab seamen, it will travel the 6.000 miles to Canton in China.
Libby Purves reports from Oman on this modern Sinbad and his vessel. Producer TED GORTON
