Lancashire v. The Australians
Middlesex v. Surrey
Further commentary followed by a visit to THE BRITISH GAMES, organised by the News of the World, for a commentary by Harold Abrahams on the Emsley Oarr Mile Trophy Race
From the White City Stadium, London
The Trophy is a handsomely bound volume in red nigec goatskin morocco, which records the story of mile running throughout the world from 1868, when a 4-minute mile was first recorded, and contains the autographs of most of the world and British record holders at the distance. It is a perpetual challenge trophy to be competed for each year at the British Games, and is named after the late Sir Emsley Carr, who inspired the British Games and was responsible for their establishment as an annual event in 1923.
