A programme for children under five
Nursery rhymes, stories, and music
This programme is intended for pleasure and delight but once we heard that it was on the verge of promoting domestic strife. A father wrote about an argument between himself and his wife, the subject of which was the name of the music that closes our programme each day. We were glad to be able to restore harmony by writing, as requested, to the small son of the household (who, his father assured us, ' would be pleased to correct his mother and me on this point ') to tell him that this concluding piano duet is the Berceuse from the suite Dolly,' by Gabriel Fauré. And to judge from the number of enquiring letters we receive on this subject we are sure that the information will be welcomed by many other listeners. For stories this week, we have * Wee Geordie,' by Mary R. Campbell , told today by Dorothy Smith. Tomorrow and on Wednesday, Julia Lang tells two stories by Jean Sutcliffe about Charlie's Big Red Bus, and on Friday she returns with ' The Water Baby,' by Ruth Ainsworth , while on Thursday comes ' The Yellow Caravan,' by Nesta Nuttall , when the storyteller will be Daphne Oxenford.
