Michael Garrick -a prolific composer -gave the first performance of the suite for big band that he calls Hardy Country, inspired by the writings of Thomas Hardy. The 16-piece orchestra included
Scott Garland , Jimmy Hastings and Tim Garland (reeds), Martin Shaw (trumpet), Mark Nightingale
(trombone), Phil Lee
(guitar) and Dave Green (bass). Introduced by Geoffrey Smith , who also talks to Michael Garrick during the interval.
