Three major prosecutions have been brought under the 1959 Obscene Publications Act against Lady Chatterley's Lover, Hubert Selby's Last Exit to Brooklyn and Inside Linda Lovelace. All three were acquitted.
Geoffrey Robertson reviews the change of attitudes - in and outside the courts - to ' obscene ' literature, and asks whether further legislation is needed.
