A century ago the language of science was intelligible, but the ideas of scientists were unacceptable. Today new ideas are not resisted, but the language m which they are expressed raises difficulties even among scientists.
The British Association, now meeting in Cardiff, is changing its function from persuading people of the value of science to interpreting it. Is it being successful?
