Sir Michael Tippett - a Centenary Tribute

on BBC Four

A tribute to one of our most distinguished composers, who died in January aged 93. It features a performance of his first great success, the Concerto for Double String Orchestra, and his last orchestral work, The Rose Lake. Sir Colin Davis , one of Tippett's greatest interpreters, conducts the London Symphony Orchestra. There are also excerpts from two documentaries: One Pair of Eyes:
Poets in a Barren Age from 1972 and Songs of Experience, made in 1985 to mark his 80th birthday. Presented by Michael Berkeley. Another chance to hear Tippett as Composer of the Week, Sun to Thu 12 midnight Radio 3
