The birth-pangs of one of the most spectacular and expensive cinema epics ever attempted - M.G.M.'s £3-million Grand Prix, a film about the motor-racing world.
The backdrop-Monte Carlo; the stars - James Garner, Yves Montand, and a roaring cacophony of cars; and, caught in close-up under the strain of his task, the young and talented director John Frankenheimer.
