Linda Ormiston introduces the first of five programmes featuring performances given last week at the St Magnus Festival in the Orkney Islands. Including a visit to the island of Hoy with the chamber group Psappha, some Bach from the English Baroque Soloists chamber ensemble, Mendelssohn's Violin Sonata in F played by Priya Mitchell and Robert Kulek (piano), and Frank Bridge's suite The Sea performed by the BBC Philharmonic under Martyn Brabbins.
