Harry Farjeon was born in New Jersey in 1878, and studied privately under Landon Ronald and at the Royal Academy of Music. For many years now he has been one of the most distinguished professors of harmony and composition at the Royal Academy of Music. Since the beginning of his career, however, he has distinguished himself equally as a composer whose style is very individual and poetic. His chamber music includes four string quartets and three violin sonatas. He is the brother of Herbert, Eleanor, and Jefferson Farjeon , equally distinguished in their respective careers.
