Humphrey Searle 's Second Symphony features alongside two important Prom premieres: Henry Wood conducted the world premiere of Dvorak's The Water Goblin at a winter Saturday-night Prom in November 1896, and in the 1903 summer season he included "the first note of Mahler's music to be played in England" and plenty of other notes too, in Mahler's First Symphony.
