Double Income, No Kids Yet

on BBC Radio 4 FM

David Spicer's new six-part comedy about a thirty-something couple that has everything: good jobs, money, a marriage that works - and no children.

1: It's Daniel's birthday and to soften the blow of his impending middle age, Lucy tries to arrange a birthday party for him. However, it seems all their friends are too busy being parents to attend.

11.30am R4 Children make new friends for their parents by forming a link to the parents of their own friends. But what happens to friendships formed before the children came along? That is a core part of the theme of this new sitcom in which Elizabeth Carling and David Tennant play Lucy and Daniel, a thirty-something couple who find they have it all, or so they think. Alarmingly, their friends are starting to have children, whereas they are not. Parents have other priorities, but surely Lucy and Daniel can at least rely on the continuing presence of their pal Katie (Meera Syal). Best not to count on it...
