Omnibus: Korea: a House Divided

on BBC One London

First of eight programmes
Written and narrated by Simon Winchester Korea is an ancient and richly cultural land, as can be seen in her dance, music and writing. Despite the twin tragedies of years of foreign domination and the division of the country, 35 years ago, into two implacably opposed political halves, much of Korean culture remains intact.

Omnibus investigates the extraordinary array of forces affecting the arts in South Korea today. There are particular problems to be faced by a country that some regard as one of the world's most successful economies, and some, including its radical students, feel it is in thrall to the United States of America.
