A Radioactive Jubilee by A. S. Russell , D.sc. of Christ Church, Oxford
Just over fiftv years ago one of the greatest scientific theories of all time was made public. It was a theory explaining the behaviour of the then recently discovered radioactive elements, uranium and radium. The theory is associated w th the names of Rutherford and Soddy and is oalied the disintegration theory of radioactivity. Dr. Russell h:mself worked in this field and in this talk he describes how the theory has fared during the past fifity years.
