The second of 12 programmes. Towards the end of the 16th century, a number of expatriate musicians took a style of English consort music to the continent. One of the most influential was the Catholic composer Peter Philips. Pieces composed and arranged by Philips are played by the Parley of Instruments directed by Peter Holman and Mark Caudle.
