Talk by J. B. Ward Perkins
Director of the British School at Rome
This is the first of two talks (both broadcast previously) on a building and its decoration as a historical document.
J. B. Ward Perkins , who some time ago visited the excavations underneath the Vatican Basilica, examines the light thrown by them on Old St. Peter's, the basilica built there in the fourth century by the Emperor Constarrtine.
