Blowing Your Own Horn
Barry Tuckwell is the only horn player in the world to pursue an exclusively solo career.
A soloist for 20 years, many composers have written works for him: Thea Musgrave ,
Richard Rodney Bennett , Robin Holloway and lain Hamilton. His influences range from
Dennis Brain to Tommy Dorsey and his teaching career includes his own horn method. Recently he has taken up the baton both in America and at home, where he conducted the London Symphony Orchestra of which he was principal horn for 13 years.
