Tourism in Britain is big business. Last year, income from overseas visitors alone reached nearly £900-million; and with many of us taking holidays nearer home this summer and foreigners still finding British cities and resorts attractively cheap, the tourist industry is likely to have a record year.
How well is the holidaymaker catered for and does he get value for money? Can British resorts compete with the sea, sand and sun available abroad? What can be done about the tourist invasion in some popular areas?
Tonight's programme examines these and other questions and considers the future pattern of holidays at home.
