Songs of Praise

on BBC One London

Fifty years ago this week the SS Empire Windrush docked in Tilbury, Essex, carrying the first settlers from the Caribbean.
In a special programme from London's Southwark Cathedral,
Diane-Louise Jordan meets some of the trailblazers, including Sam King who went on to become mayor of Southwark. Music comes from singer and comedian Gary Wilmot, whose father came over on the boat, and the London Community Gospel Choir, while the songs include "Blessed Assurance", "To God Be the Glory", "Leaning on the Everlasting Arm" and "How Great Thou Art."

(The Money Programme continues the Windrush Season at 6.30pm on BBC2)
