Sunday Feature: Viewing the Century - the Dalai Lama

on BBC Radio 3

The series that talks to leading witnesses of the century features an exclusive interview with the Dalai Lama.
Isabel Hilton travelled to
Dharmsala in northern India to talk to him about his view of the world and the events and issues of which he has often been at the centre since his flight from Tibet 40 years ago this month. His own experience of the century has been shaped by the violent collision between tradition and modernity, religion and rationality, which he explores through personal anecdote and political analysis of the Tibetan predicament.
