Garden's Olivier Award-winning production of Martinu's last major work. A group of modern Greek villagers put on a Passion play, but as the threatening presence of refugees divides the village, they find themselves gradually taken over by their roles. Manolios, cast as Jesus, and Katerina, the village's Mary Magdalen , seek to welcome and comfortthe visitors, against the will of Priest Grigoris and the village elders.
