Omnibus

on BBC One London

A weekly programme of the arts This edition includes:
The Honourable Out-of-Step
Last November, m the South Pacific, the people of Tonga celebrated the Centenary of their Constitution with a week of dancing and singing.
In the centre of it all was a high-ranking noble who, despite his title Ve'ehala, Out-of-Step, is one of Tonga's finest dancers and a leading poet.
Omnibus joined Ve'ehala and his villagers to discover, through their dance, the Tongan ideals of beauty, the layers of meaning hidden within their poetry, and the rigid system of social ranking which, from King to commoner, governs their lives.
