Granite Quarrying

on Regional Programme Midland

View in Radio Times

In these days of heavy road traffic it is essential that the finest materials be used to obtain lasting foundations and surfaces. From Leicestershire, one of the greatest centres of the trade, thousands of tons of granite are blasted to go to the making of British roads. A talk will be given by Mr. C.H. Martin (Chairman of the Associated Leicestershire Quarries), explaining how the stone is quarried and prepared for use. Incidental process noises will be included by means of the Blattnerphone (Stille Process).
