Great North Run

on BBC One London

Live coverage from Tyne and Wear as the world's biggest half-marathon - starting at Newcastle and ending on the coast at South Shields - celebrates its quarter-century.

At 10.10, the wheelchair race sets off, with the spotlight once again on Tanni Grey-Thompson. The women's elite race, under way at 10.15, features Olympic and world marathon silver medallist Catherine Ndereba, and last year's runner-up Edith Masai. And at 10.40 the men's elite race pits marathon world record holder Paul Tergat against defending champion Dejene Berhanu and talented Briton Jon Brown. Among the celebrity entrants is rugby's Jonathan Davies, who's aiming to beat the event's individual fund-raising record. With Sue Barker.
Highlights are at 6.15pm on BBC2. Editor Dave Gordon
