The last of a seven-part screenplay by Alan Plater. January 1943: neglected by Guy and weakened by illness, Harriet has decided to return to England. However, unknown to Guy, she changes her mind and on a last-minute impulse sets off for Damascus instead. Meanwhile in Cairo, news comes that the ship Harriet was to sail on has been torpedoed - with no survivors.
