The White Tribe of Africa: 4: The Politics of Fear

on BBC One London

Written and presented by David Dimbleby

The Afrikaners believe that at the Southern tip of Africa they are facing a Communist onslaught which the rest of the world ignores at its peril. To counter the threat the Nationalist Government has given itself massive powers, which they also use to silence political protest.

The last film of the series looks at the Afrikaners' attempt to persuade Whites and Blacks that theirs is the only solution to South Africa's problems. But the violence of their response to some of those who disagree with them could lead, many believe, to a violent end.
