Olympic Grandstand

on BBC One London

Athletics
7.30 Men's 800m semi-finals
8.00 Women's 3,000m final
Scotland's European 3,000m champion Yvonne Murray won bronze at the last Olympics but finished disappointingly out of the medals in the world championships. She will be hoping to make amends tonight. The last two women's Olympic 3,000m have both had their dramas - in 1984, a tearful Mary Decker claimed Zola Budd had tripped her up in the final, and in 1988, a sobbing Lim Chun-ae, the South Korean record holder and final bearer of the Olympic torch, came last in her qualifying heat. It emerged later that her coach used to beat her, once breaking her eardrum, for not training well enough.
Also tonight, Tom McKean runs for a place in the 800m final, and the men's high jump comes to a close. Britain's Dalton Grant finished seventh in Seoul behind gold medallist Gennady Avdeyenko.
