The Tuesday Feature: The Rabbit Woman of Godalming

on BBC Radio 4 FM

In October 1726 wild rumours about monstrous births swept London, and reached
King George I who ordered an inquiry. The Hon Samuel Molyneux visited Mary Toft and was present when the Royal Surgeon and Anatomist delivered her of yet another rabbit. He was able to assure the King that: 'He did not perceive the least Circumstance of Fraud in the conduct of this Affair.'
