The Best of Torvill and Dean

on BBC One London

It's nine months since
Britain's Olympic Champions Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean retired from competitive skating after a memorable amateur career which changed the face of ice dancing. Their first World Championship triumph in 1981 was followed by the magical era of 'Mack and Mabel', then came the brilliant 'Barnum' routine, and finally that inspired climax to Ravel's 'Bolero' in Ottawa last March.
Standing ovations became the order of the day as audiences from Hartford to Helsinki and Copenhagen to Canada acclaimed skating perfection.
Tonight Alan Weeks responds to repeated requests to raid BBC Television's videotape vaults and introduces the four gold medal performances which captivated the sporting world. Producer JM RESIDE
