1. Early Life. Born into a wealthy Parisian family, Poulenc mixed with some of the most influential artistic personalities of the period, including Ricardo Vines, Erik Satie and Georges Auric. Poulenc's Les Biches, written for Russian ballet impresario Sergei Diaghilev , established his international reputation.
