Nature Detectives

on BBC One London

Amateur nature enthusiasts are teamed with a camera crew to film their pet conservation and observation projects in this new six-part series.
This week Janet Blinkhorne and her surveillance team, which includes the local police, protect the nesting peregrine falcons of Beeston Castle. The film crew has installed a mini-camera to help keep a close eye on the nest's activities.
Sylvia Sheldon introduces her colony of adders - by name - and Charlie Hamilton-James shows the results of five months spent tracking Shetland otters.
"The detectives are people with amazing knowledge and determination," says series producer Paul Appleby. "The crew's aim is to film their animals as they've never seen them before, and since we're receiving videotapes of sparrowhawks, basking sharks and Scottish wildcats that's quite a challenge!" Introduced by Chris Packham with Derek Mooney.
