This meeting is always a highlight of the season, and this year is the first in Europe since the Olympic Games.

Among the Olympic stars invited to take part are John Walker, Rod Dixon and Dick Quax of New Zealand, Irene Szewinska and Bronislaw Malinowski of Poland, and Luciano Susanj of Yugoslavia. British athletes competing include Brendan Foster, Sonia Lannaman, Steve Ovett, Alan Pascoe, Geoff Capes and David Jenkins.
